Translation of Suratul-Quraysh (Chapter 106 of the Holy Qur’an)
In the Name of Allah the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
1.(It is a great Grace and Protection from Allah) for the taming of the Quraish,
2.(And with all those Allah’s Grace and Protections for their taming, We cause) the (Quraysh) caravans to set forth safe in winter (to the south) and in summer (to the north without any fear),
3.So let them worship (Allah) the Lord of this House (the Ka ‘bah in Makkah),
4.(He) Who has fed them against hunger, and has made them safe from fear. Suratul-Quraysh – A Simple Explanation
Bismillaahir-Rahmaanir-Raheem (In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful)
Verse 1: “For the taming of the Quraysh” This means Allah helped the tribe of Quraysh (the people living in Makkah) to live peacefully and do their trading easily. Allah was kind to the people of Quraysh. He made them strong and respected, so they could travel safely and do business without trouble.
Verse 2: “Their caravans set forth safely in winter and summer” This means the Quraysh people could travel to other countries safely during winter and summer to buy and sell goods.Allah protected the Quraysh when they travelled far away to trade. In winter, they went to Yemen (a warm place), and in summer, they went to Syria (a cooler place). They had no fear of being attacked or harmed.
Verse 3: “So let them worship the Lord of this House (Ka‘bah)” Allah is telling them to worship only Him, the One who gave them all these blessings. Allah gave them safety, food, and peace, so they should thank Him and pray to Him alone. He is the owner of the Ka‘bah, the special house of Allah in Makkah.
Verse 4: “Who has fed them against hunger and made them safe from fear” Allah gave them food when they were hungry and safety when they were afraid. Allah took care of their needs. He gave them enough food so they wouldn’t go hungry and protected them so they wouldn’t be scared.
Some lessons
1. Allah takes care of people who trust and worship Him.
2. We should always thank Allah for His blessings like food, safety, and peace.
3. We should worship only Allah, because He is the one who provides everything.
