Introduction to Suratul Jinn
Suratul Jinn is the Chapter 72 of the Qur’an with 28 verses. Suratul Jinn focuses on the interaction between the jinn and humans, their recognition of the Qur’an, and Allah’s power and oneness.The surah addresses both the human and jinn realms, showcasing their shared responsibilities toward Allah.
Verse-by-Verse Tafsir of Suratul Jinn
6. ‘And there were men among mankind who sought refuge (help/protection) in men among the jinn, so they [only] increased them in burden.’
Tafsir: This verse criticizes the practice of humans seeking protection from jinn, which only led to increased misguidance and fear
7. ‘And they had thought, as you thought, that Allah would never send anyone [as a messenger].’
Tafsir: Both humans and jinn doubted the possibility of divine revelation or messengers being sent by Allah.
8. ‘And we have sought [to reach] the heaven but found it filled with powerful guards and burning flames.’
Tafsir: The jinn describe their failed attempts to eavesdrop on the heavens after the Qur’an’s revelation, emphasizing Allah’s protection of divine knowledge.
9.’And we used to sit therein in positions for hearing, but whoever listens now will find a burning flame lying in wait.’
Tafsir: This verse highlights a significant change after the Prophet’s mission, where the jinn could no longer access celestial information.
10. ‘And we do not know [therefore] whether evil is intended for those on earth or whether their Lord intends for them a right course.’
