This Islamic Studies course is a component of the Religion and National Values (RNV) curriculum, designed in line with the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council’s (NERDC) 9-Year Basic Education Programme. The course aims to lay a solid spiritual and moral foundation by introducing young learners to the basic tenets of Islam. Students will explore fundamental themes such as the Oneness of Allah (Tawhid), the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) (Sirah), and the importance of prayer (Salah). The curriculum also integrates lessons on national values, promoting good character (Akhlaq), social harmony, and civic responsibility, all rooted in Islamic teachings. Through simple stories, recitations of short Surahs from the Qur’an, and practical activities, the course is structured to instil a love for God and a sense of moral uprightness and good citizenship in the pupils.
